Havering Farm Access and Culvert Improvements

Havering Farm Access and Culvert Improvements

Project Objective

Back

The Stilwell Partnership were appointed to provide a single one-stop design and management service for the civil engineering improvement of the site access road and culvert.

Services Provided:

  • Tendering and Contract Administration
  • Negotiation and implementation of the formal highway and drainage legal agreements
  • CDM Coordinator

Background:

Havering Farm operates a plant hire and a scaffolding business with a number of large goods vehicles entering and exiting the site. The narrow access road, which shares a public right of way, was in very poor condition and the culvert crossing Whitmoor Common Brook watercourse was dilapidated. The proposal was to improve the access road and culvert to current design and construction standards.

Project Description:

The new carriageway was designed to safely accommodate the vehicle and pedestrian movements. A replacement concrete box culvert would provide increased flow capacity and headwalls improve stability of the embankment. New safety barriers would protect pedestrians and vehicles crossing the bridge. The access road embankments were graded to the design revised levels and landscaped.
The Stilwell Partnership provided a total procurement service from planning application through to project management of the construction project, including:

  • The Design & Access Statement for the Planning Application
  • Procurement of an Ecology Survey
  • 3D ground modelling and profiling of the highway and the watercourse
  • The horizontal and vertical alignment of the access road with supporting Autotrack analysis of the HGV movements
  • Production of Detailed engineering drawings and Construction specification
  • A Flood Risk assessment and obtaining a Flood Defence Consent with the Environment Agency
  • Production of the Civil Engineering Construction details, Specification and Bill of Quantities
  • Project Management of the Tendering, selection and appointment of the contractor
  • Providing Site attendance
  • Coordinating the utility services diversions
